Egypt: security can be only attained by full Israeli withdrawal
Egypt-Palestine, Politics, 8/9/2002
The Egyptian foreign minister Ahmad Maher has stressed that security and stability will not be attained in the Middle East except after Israel's complete withdrawal from all occupied Arab territories until June 4, 1967 border lines.
In a statement to the Egyptian al-Wafd paper, Maher indicated Israel's failure to halt the Palestinian resistance, and to achieve what he called security and stability for the Israelis, despite Israel's continued aggressive practices against the Palestinian people in the occupied territories.
Maher said that the Israeli occupation is the last occupation in the world.
Meantime, and at the regional level, Maher stressed Egypt's deliberate rejection to any military action against Iraq, noting that the Egyptian position to this effect is an integral part of the Arab position which rejects any military strike against Iraq or any other Arab state.
He also stressed the need of maintaining Sudan's unity and territorial integrity, stressing Egypt's stand with Sudan and supporting the option of unity felt by the Sudanese.
