Jewish Organization condemns Zionist campaign against Al Ahram
Egypt, Politics, 8/8/2002
An international Jewish organization criticized what it termed as "Zionist organization influence in France" and charges to AL Ahram, its editor-in-chief and Egyptian press of anti-Semitism.
ΚΚΚ In an interview with AL Ahram on telephone, Rabbi Jacop Konig, a leader of the organization said Egypt is the real target of the Zionist campaign.
ΚΚΚ "It seems there is a hidden plot to embarrass the Egyptian government, as Egypt has an influence on Middle East peace process," said the Rabbi adding that Egypt supports the Palestinians.
ΚΚΚ Responding to a question on the charges of anti-Semitism to AL Ahram, he said it was unbelievable as Arabs are Semitic, how can Arabs became enemies of themselves?!
ΚΚΚ The Rabbi expresses his surprise at the Zionist pressures on Egypt to stop support to the Palestinians.
ΚΚΚ It would be strange if Egypt did not support the Palestinians, he wondered. If the aim of this campaign was to defend Judaism, which he highlighted AL Ahram to have never attacked, different means could be adopted.
ΚΚΚ Meantime, Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa categorically criticized the charges to Ibrahim Nafei and AL Ahram. He added that the main aim of the campaign was to terrorize the free journalists.
ΚΚΚ Hamas leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin expressed solidarity with AL Ahram. He said as long as one defends justice for all religions, Islam, Christianity or Judaism, he should disregard blame.
