People's army: Sudanese peace talks start Monday
Sudan, Politics, 8/7/2002
An official in the Sudan People Liberation Army announced on Tuesday that the peace talks between the Sudanese government and the rebels, in particular deal with a cease fire, will be resumed in Kenya next Monday.
The assistant for the spokesman of the leader of the southern Sudan movement John Garang, said from Nairobi that "consultations are being held and we have accepted August 12 as a date to resume the peace talks." He did not clarify where the venue of the meeting will be.
The spokesman assistant was coming back from Southern Sudan, where the rebel movement in Sudan had explained the peace agreement to its partisans. The agreement was signed between the two sides in Macacus, Kenya, in July.
