Moroccan expatriates congress for representation in parliament
Morocco, Politics, 8/6/2002

Head of the World Congress of Moroccan Expatriates, Said Charchira, called for the setting up of a governmental, political and official institution in charge of issues related to Moroccan nationals residing abroad, and enabling them to be represented in the parliament.

Charchira voiced support for the setting up of a legislative representation of Moroccan expatriates at the parliament, and for their participation in the next elections, as provided for by the constitution.

The Moroccans residing abroad are ambassadors of Morocco to host countries, he said, adding that the congress has not the intention to take part in political disputes, but to contribute to deepening the political dialogue and defending country's top interests.
