Four persons wounded in clashes in Ein al-Helweh, Lebanon
Lebanon, Local, 8/6/2002
A Palestinian source said on Monday that four persons were wounded on Sunday evening in a fire exchange that took place between Palestinian Islamists in Ein al-Helweh camp for the Palestinian refugees near Sidon, the largest of Southern Lebanese cities.
The source explained that the incident took place following "exchange of bad words" between a separatist from the extremist Osbat al-Ansar ( partisans group) and two members of the Islamic resistance movement Hamas -- which the separatist accused of handing over, Badee Hamadeh -- a person convicted of killing three Lebanese soldiers to the Lebanese army.
He added that the separatist, Imad Yassin, met two members from Hamas and asked them "you have handed over our brothers in Islam to the non- believers." A matter which provoked the anger of one of the two men and crashed him by his bike that he was riding. The matter escalated to exchanging gunfire and resulted in wounding the three men and a passerby.
