Some 12 Israeli soldiers killed in Palestinian operations

The Palestinian resistance men on Sunday carried out a series of operations against Israeli military targets that resulted in killing and wounding tens of them, mostly soldiers.

The main operation was in Safad, resulted in killing ten Israelis and wounding 50, the killing of three soldiers in Jerusalem and wounding other 14, while nine Israeli settlers were wounded in other areas in the West Bank.

A Palestinian suicide bomber exploded himself in an Israeli coach at Meiroun's crossroad near Safad in Israel, resulted in killing 10 Israelis and wounding 50, according to an Israeli military spokesman.

The Israeli radio said seven among the wounded are in critical health conditions, and that soldiers were among the passengers who were on their way for the military positions in the northern areas, adding that an explosive went off in the bus.

Ezz Eddine al-Qassam claimed responsibility for the operation, noting it is preparing for the second part of retaliating the assassination of its leader Salah Shehadeh in Gaza.

In Jerusalem, two soldiers were killed and other 14 wounded when a Palestinian resistance man opened fire at an Israeli car near "Bawabat Dimashq" ( Damascus Gateway) before he was killed by the Israeli soldiers.

Six Israeli soldiers were wounded to the north of the West Bank when Palestinian resistance men detonated, by remote control, an explosive, during a mopping up operation by the Israeli forces. One Israeli settler was strongly wounded in a fire exchange with the Palestinians near Afni Haftaz settlement to the north of Nablus.

One Palestinian was killed by the Israeli bullets to the north of Gaza, while the Israeli forces destroyed the permanent International -Arab camp of the youths and sport department at the Palestinian Authority, besides another building and one house during incursion by tanks for hundreds of meters inside the area.

In the West Bank, eight Palestinian houses were destroyed by dynamite for families of those who carried out operations against Israel.

The Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon threatened to escalate attacks against the Palestinians by all means. He admitted that the "Safad" operation is a real catastrophe. Meantime, the US President George Bush expressed his sadness over the blowing off the Israeli bus. He called on all sides to wok for halting what he called "terrorism."
