Hamas regrets killing of foreigners in Jerusalem university explosions
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 8/3/2002
The Palestinian Islamic resistance movement ( Hamas) on Friday expressed its regret over the killing of foreigners and Americans in the blowing off operations which took place in the Hebrew university in Jerusalem, stressing that Hamas only target the Israelis.
The key figure in Hamas, Abdul Aziz al-Rantesi, told reporters "we regret the killing of foreigners or Americans in the explosion that took place in the Hebrew university in Jerusalem." Al-Rantesi indicated that Hamas and Ezz Eddine al-Qassam group ( the military wing of the movement ) only target the Israelis.
However, he said that a person who caries dual identity, and if the second identity is an Israeli citizenship, then "he is an Israeli and is targeted by Hamas." He said that Hamas did not send any message to the American side regretting what happened, especially as the US "does not send us messages of apology or regret if any of our people is killed."
