High temperatures led to large fires in Lebanon, great losses

Fires which erupted in several Lebanese areas resulted in damaging large areas of fruit and afforested trees, due to the high increase in temperatures which in the coastal area and 48 in the Bekaa.

Sources at the Lebanese civil defense said that three helicopters belonging to the army contributed to fighting "Fetouli fire" to the east of Sidon that resulted in burning of 20,000 dunums of fruit and afforested trees.

The sources indicated that a large fire erupted on Thursday in Lebanon in al-Batroun district and targeted 200,000 square meters of oak and olive trees and it was continuous until Friday.

The Lebanese ministry of the interior and the municipalities said that the civil defense units completed until Friday evening 166 fire fighting operations, 76 rescue operations in all areas where the fire took place.
