Sudan, Local, 8/3/2002

The Sudanese daily Akhbar al-Youm ( News of today) said on Friday that nine persons including one woman were killed and others wounded during a fire exchange in one of the markets of Jouba, a major city in southern Sudan.

The paper explained that a group of armed men from the local Mourli tribe attacked on Thursday "Kong Kong" market, and started opening fire on people, and as a result four traders were killed, four security men and one woman.

The paper did not say whether the killed persons are from the south or north Sudan.
