Al-Riyadh: Saud al-Faisal visits Iran tomorrow
Saudi Arabia-Iran, Politics, 8/2/2002
The Saudi daily al-Riyadh said yesterday that Saudi Arabia's foreign minister Prince Saud al-Faisal will start tomorrow a one day visit to Iran in order to hold talks there on the regional conditions.
The paper quoted sources at the Saudi foreign ministry as saying that Prince al-Faisal will discus with his Iranian counterpart Kamal Kharazi the situation in the Middle East, especially the Palestinian issue.
Relations between Riyadh and Tehran have been improved in recent years. In April 2002, the two countries signed a security agreement to fighting drug trafficking and terrorism. The Iranian President Muhammad Khatami visited Riyadh in 1999.
