Baath leaders in opposition celebration in Damascus

A statement issued by the unlicensed "Hizb al-Itohad and al-Ishtiaki, al-Arabi and Demokarti" (the Democratic Arab Socialist Federation party) on Thursday said that two members of the leadership of the Damascus branch of the Baath Party attended a celebration by the party on the occasion of the July Revolution anniversary ( of Egypt's Abdul Nasser.).

The party (which is a member in the opposition democratic national coalition ) held a central rally on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the "Liberal army officers" revolution in a Summer Cafe, 30 Km far from Damascus.

The rally was attended, besides the two Baathists representatives, by representatives for the Palestinian resistance movements; al-Jihad, the peoples and democratic fronts and representatives for the Kurdish parties.
