Large fire in the Golan
Syria-Israel, Local, 8/2/2002
A large fire erupted on Wednesday afternoon in an Israeli settlement in the Golan that extended to cover more than 20,000 dunnums of natural pastures and fruit trees.
The Israeli radio said several helicopters and fire fighting cars are taking part in fighting the fire which by Thursday morning was not not extinguished. Reasons behind the fire are not known.
Israeli sources said that large losses were inflicted on natural protectorate and the trees because of this fire.
