Kuwait denies Iraqi military build up on its borders
Kuwait-Iraq, Politics, 8/1/2002

Kuwait's minister of information Ahmad Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah has denied the existence of an Iraqi military build up along the Kuwaiti borders. He said that was confirmed by the UN, and the advanced monitoring systems and satellites.

In a press conference he held on Tuesday evening at the Kuwaiti journalists society, he stressed that no abnormal military moves took place in Kuwait.

The minister also denied the redeployment of extra number of the allied forces to Kuwait. He explained that what is taking place is a sort of rotation of forces; a measure that takes place within numbers agreed upon. He also added that establishing new camps for the American forces in Kuwait is a result of programmed plans, agreed upon since ten years.

The Kuwaiti minister stressed that Kuwait is against striking Iraq, noting that his country does not interfere in the Iraqi internal affairs.
