UN Security Council extends for UNIFIL in South Lebanon

The UN security council on Tuesday extended for six months the mission of the UN Interim Force in South Lebanon deployed on southern Lebanon on the border with Israel since 1978.
Resolution 1428, which was adopted unanimously in the presence of the UN chief Kofi Annan, extends the mission of the UN until January 31st, 2003.
The resolutions "congratulates the Lebanese government over the measures it had taken to impose its control once again in South Lebanon and asks to continue efforts to this end."
