Egypt, Sudan sign 15 economic, trade, investment cooperation agreements

At the conclusion of the second session of the Egyptian- Sudanese higher committee meetings late Monday, Prime Minister Atef Ebeid and Sudanese first vice president Ali Osman Taha signed the final communique.
The closing session also witnessed the signing of 15 agreements and memorandums of understanding for economic, trade and investment cooperation.
Deputy Premier and Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Youssef Wali and Sudanese Minister of Agriculture and Forests Maqzoub Al-khalifa signed a memo of understanding in the field of fish wealth and a cooperation protocol in the field of veterinary medicine.
Transport Minister Hamdi EL-Shayeb and his Sudanese counterpart Mohammed Taher signed two agreements in the field of land and sea transport as well as a memo of understanding in the field of roads.
Manpower Minister Ahmed El-Amawi and Sudanese Labour Minister Alison Manani signed a memo of understanding in the field of labor and an agreement on exchange of workers.
Foreign trade minister Youssef Boutros Ghali and Sudanese external trade minister Abdel Hamid Musa inked a memo of understanding in the field of export development.
Egyptian minister of Awkaf and Sudanese minister of religious guidance and endowment Islam Ahamd El-Bashir signed an executive program in the field of awkaf.
Bashir signed another agreement with Minister of Health and Population Awad Tag Eddin in the fields of health care and population.
He also inked a third agreement on insurance and social welfare with minister of insurance and social affairs Amina ELGuindi.
Minister of Communications and Information Technology (IT) Ahmed Nazif signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of IT with Sudanese Minister of Agriculture and forests Magzoub ALkhalifa.
The Sudanese Minister also signed an agreement on the avoidance of dual-taxation with foreign affairs state minister Fayza Abul-Naga.
Planning Minister Osman Mohammad Osman and Sudanese Industry and Investment Minister Galal Youssef signed a memo of understanding in the field of insurance.
Premier Ebied's adviser for crises management Mostafa Tag Eddin signed a memorandum with Sudanese Foreign Minister's Adviser Awad El-karim Fadlalah in the field of crises management.
Addressing the attendants of the closing session, Ebeid reaffirmed Egypt's keenness on the interests of the Sudanese people.
He pressed for furthering development in the domains of electricity, petroleum, roads, health care and pharmaceuticals.
He reiterated willingness to offer more access to Sudanese products into Egyptian markets.
The Sudanese vice president highlighted, on his part, the deeply rooted relations between the Egyptian and Sudanese peoples.
The second session of the Egyptian-Sudanese higher committee meetings was aimed at implementing the recommendations and decisions taken by the latest Egyptian -Sudanese summit in May, he said.
The joint committee will follow up the implementation of the agreements and memos of understanding signed during this session, he added.
Meanwhile, Ebeid and Taha held a brief session before being joined by members of the two delegations. Egypt said that talks also covered the integration of the two states.
