Sharon's new plan proposed to the US
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 7/30/2002
The French Marian magazine has disclosed that the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon discussed the mainlines of a plan with Washington, after the Israeli forces committed the civilian killings in Gaza.
In its recent issue, the French magazine said that the plan states the pullout of the Israeli occupation army from an additional 7% of the West Bank, so as the total area that falls under the Palestinian authority to be 49%.
According to this plan, the magazine said, the current situation in the Palestinian territories will continue, and two thirds of the area of the West Bank will be for the Palestinians, and this will be under the condition that 5,000 Israeli settlers will continue to stay there.
The magazine indicated that Sharon in his plan set conditions, mainly to halt the Palestinian national resistance, removal of the chairman of the Palestinian authority, and to have a three year extension -- the provisional period, proposed by the US President George Bush to found the Palestinian state.
The magazine stressed that there is no chance that the Palestinian side will accept this plan.
