Israeli- Palestinian financial meeting canceled
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 7/30/2002

The Israeli radio said that the meeting which was due on Monday between Israel's minister of finance Silvan Shalom and the financial official in the Palestinian Authority Salam Fayyad was canceled, without any explaining.

The radio said that the "money transfer" already announced for the Palestinian authority will be made as scheduled.

The managing director of the Israeli finance ministry Ohad Mrani told the radio he had met on Sunday with Fayyad in order to put the final touches on the process of transferring the first payment estimated at $ 14,7 million of the sums due for the Palestinian authority, frozen by Israel.

On the other hand, Fayyad stressed there was no prior agreement concerning the meeting with the Israeli finance minister, noting that contacts continue to this effect.
