The Monte Carlo radio on Monday quoted well-informed sources in Rabat as saying that consultations to be held by the Syrian foreign minister Farouk al-Shara with officials in Morocco will deal with the situation in Iraq under the escalation of the American- British preparations to carry out a military attack against Baghdad.

The sources added that the Moroccan- Syrian consultations cover bilateral and international cooperation into fighting terrorism.

The sources indicated to a closer Syrian- Moroccan security cooperation that contributed to dismantling a "dormant cell" for al-Qaida organization in Morocco, besides that the Moroccan authorities handed Syria over a German of a Syrian origin named "Muhammad Haidar al-Zammar." Intelligence circles believe that al-Zammar is one of senior members of al-Qaida organization.
