Khaddam, Qaddoumi in Damascus: Sharon is a danger to the USA

Syria's Vice President Abdul Halim Khaddam and the chairman of the political department at the PLO Farouk al-Qaddoumi stressed in a joint meeting in Damascus on Thursday commitment to "resistance as a legitimate right for self defense against the Israeli occupation," considering that the "existence of the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon is a danger on the US and the Israeli people."

Khaddam and Qaddoumi said that the "Israeli and American people have to realize their interests," calling simultaneously for an Arab effort in the coming phase to put an end to the government of Sharon and for the Israeli practices of killing and destruction."

During his visit four-day visit to Damascus, Qaddoumi met with leaders of the Palestinian groups which take Syria as a headquarters.
