King Abdullah meets with King Fahd, Sheikh Zayed

Jordanian official sources said that the Jordanian King Abdullah II left Amman Thursday heading for Geneva, Switzerland, marking the beginning of a tour that will last more than one week, centering on conditions in the Middle East. The Jordanian sources added during this tour, the Jordanian king will meet with the US and French presidents and with the British prime minister.

In statements he made, Jordan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Marwan Muasher said that the king will stress during these meetings especially in the meeting with the US President George Bush on the need "of launching a clear work plan" in order to establish a Palestinian state by the fall of three years, according to a vision by the US president on ME peace that Bush declared on June 24. The Jordanian king will also discuss "moves carried out by the international community in order to give the ME peace process a push forward and halt violence and the sufferings of the Palestinian people," according to a Jordanian official source.

In Geneva, the Jordanian king will meet with the Saudi King Fahd and President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who are there, before he will head to France where he will meet on Friday with President Chirac.

On his way to the US, the Jordanian king will stop in London to meet with the British prime minister Tony Blair on Monday.

King Abdullah will meet with President Bush on August 1st. This will be the his first meeting since the US President speech on the Middle East.

King Abdullah will also meet during his visit to the US which will last for several days with representatives of American financial, economic and technology establishment with the aim of boosting bilateral cooperation.

During his tour, the Jordanian monarch will be accompanied by the chairman of the royal court Fayez al-Trawenah, Minister of Foreign Affairs Marwan Muasher and the director of intelligence Lt. Gen. Saad Kheir.
