Moroccan diplomat visits children of family killed in train crash in Italy
Morocco-Italy, Local, 7/24/2002

Morocco's acting charge d'affaires in Italy on Monday visited two kids who survived a train accident in Italy that killed their grandparents, parents and uncle.

The diplomat conveyed to the two children, an eight-year girl and a six-year boy, the condolences of King Mohammed VI. He also surveyed with executives from the Italian railway company and a police officer circumstances of the train accident that killed four other passengers on Saturday

The Venice-bound train, carrying 200 passengers, derailed and then hit a bridge as it approached a station, in the worst railway disaster in Italy in more than 20 years.

The police officers reassured the Moroccan diplomat that the two orphans will get full support and solace.

The Italian railway company said it will pay for all the costs of the bodies repatriation to Morocco.
