Algeria wants end to Sahara conflict

Algeria's Prime Minister Ali Benflis said on Sunday ''Algeria , as current president of the AMU, shows its availability to carry on, with the member countries, its active contribution for the edification of the Maghreb project founded on a renovated vision by taking into account interests of all the sides, '' adding the Western Sahara conflict which "disrupts peace and stability in our region.'' APS reported yesterday.

He was quoted by APS as saying: Algeria will continue ''to plead in favor of the implementation of the UN settlement plan, based on the UN charter and notably the principle of the peoples right to self-determination, the Houston accords as adequate base for a peaceful and definitive solution of the Western Sahara question.''
