Bush meets with three Arab foreign ministers
Regional-USA, Politics, 7/20/2002

US President George Bush announced that all sides including the US have responsibilities towards reaching the founding of a Palestinian state. During his meeting with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan, President Bush said that Washington will present what he called a security reform plan for the Palestinians and the Israelis prepared by the CIA chief George Tenet. Bush did not disclose details of this plan.

Bush said he intends to make consultations on reforming the Palestinian establishments. Meantime, the US Secretary of State Colin Powell said the talks President Bush held with the three ministers were fruitful. He explained that the final solution for the Palestinian- Israeli conflict will be only political.

The Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal stressed that the region will end in a catastrophe if the Israeli prime minister will stay in power.

The Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmad Maher said the American "position is unbalanced and should be amended." He added that the participants in the talks which were held in the White House expressed their determination to continue efforts for the founding of a Palestinian state.

Maher also said the Palestinians are the one to decide the selection and election of their leaders. He added that the Palestinians also intend to work with sides in the region and the US on the three tracks set by the American at the security, political and economic levels in order to reach the vision expressed by Bush.
