Egypt, Local, 7/19/2002
Alexandria Governor, Abdel Salam Al-Mahgoub said Bibliotheca Alexandria opens on October 16.
"The visitors of Alexandria will reach 2.5 million as domestic tourism to the city is increasing," added Mahgoub.
Charter flights to the coastal city from the Arab states reach 20 a week in addition to tourist groups from Japan and South Korea that arrive in the city daily.
In a meeting with Rotary Club in Alexandria, Mahgoub said hotel occupancy is 60% due to tourist process development. "Alexandria also has 50% of the petroleum industries in Egypt," underlined Mahgoub.
