Lebanon-Cyprus, Politics, 7/19/2002
The Lebanese President Emil Lahoud today starts a visit to Cyprus during which he will sign several cooperation agreements with the Cypriot government including several issues of mutual concern.
The spokesman for the Cypriot government said that this visit which will continue for three days, the first by President Lahoud to the island, aims at fostering cooperation between the two countries and comes at a response to the visit made by the Cypriot President Glafkos Clerides to Lebanon on February 2001.
Lebanon and Cyprus signed several agreements on the health sector and transport of prisoners. Their last agreement was signed on April 9 in Nicosia on encouraging and protecting investments in the two countries.
