King Mohammed sends message to Norwegian premier
Morocco-Norway, Politics, 7/18/2002

Morocco's King Mohammed VI has sent Norwegian prime minister, Magne Kjell Bondevik, a message on the developments of the Sahara issue, mainly as regards the role of the UN Security Council. The message deals with the UN Security Council's role in promoting the political settlement proposed by the UN secretary general and his personal envoy, James Baker.

In another meeting with Norwegian secretary of state for foreign affairs, Aujjar made a detailed presentation on the Sahara issue and stressed Morocco's readiness to promote a political solution on the basis of the framework agreement and in the respect of Morocco's territorial integrity.

The Norwegian official said his country supports the UN efforts and stressed that Norway is keen on seeing this problem settled for the benefit of stability and security in the Maghreb region.
