Athletics Stockholm Meet: Morocco's Goumri wins 5000 m race

Moroccan athlete Abderrahim Goumri won on Tuesday the 5000 m race at the athletics Stockholm meet, part of the IAAf grand prix.

Goumri covered the distance in 13:00.77 while his countryman Mohamed Amyne came in third with a timing of 13:01.98, behind Kenyan Sammy Kipketer (13:01.14).

The year's best performance on the distance was scored last Friday by Morocco's Salah Hissou during the Rome meet, third phase of the Golden league. Hissou scored a timing of 12:55.85.

Another Moroccan athlete participating in the Stockholm meet, Brahim Boulami, came in second in the 3000m steeple.

Boulami, world record holder of this race, made a timing of 8:00.77, behind vice-Olympic champ Kenyan Wilson Boit Kipketer, who marked the year's best performance with a timing of 8:00.56.
