Sudanese army overtakes rebel base

The Sudanese army announced it has controlled Loronjo base which is considered the biggest base for the Southern Sudan rebels to the east of Nourit city in southern Sudan.

The official spokesman for the Sudanese army Lt. Gen. Muhammad Bashir Suleiman said that great number of casualties were inflected on the rebels in both human losses and weapons during the overtaking of the base.

On the other hand, Lt. Gen. Adams Hamid Moussa, Wali of Kasla province, east Sudan said that 145 military men, most of them rebel soldiers fled from the rebel camps in West Eritrea and surrendered to the Sudanese authorities in the province.

Lt. Gen. Moussa described conditions of those military men as bad and that they are suffering ailing health conditions. He said that 95 of them were evacuated to the capital Khartoum and the remaining others would have been evacuated on Wednesday.
