Kuwait denies mediation in Saudi- Qatari difference
Qatar-Saudi Arabia, Politics, 7/18/2002
Kuwait's first deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah has denied any Kuwaiti or non Kuwaiti mediation in the dispute between Saudi Arabia and Qatar, noting that the difference erupted between the two states is a matter that belongs to the two sides and will be settled in the very near future.
In statements he made following his return from Saudi Arabia on Tuesday evening, Sheikh al-Sabah said that his visit to Saudi Arabia came in the framework of cooperation and the exchange of ideas between Kuwait and Riyadh in the interests of the two states and the march of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states.
He added he had delivered a message from Kuwait's Amir Sheikh Jaber al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah to the Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah relating to bilateral relations and the GCC march. He explained that the message was a reply to the message sent by the Saudi crown prince which was handed over by the Saudi foreign minister prince Saud al-Faisal for Sheikh Jaber during his visit to Kuwait last week.
