Al-Assad gets a message from North Korea's President
Syria-North Korea, Politics, 7/17/2002

President Bashar al-Assad held a meeting in Damascus on Tuesday evening with the chairman of the higher people's assembly presidency commission in the People's Democratic Republic of Korea (PDRK).

The meeting was attended by Vice President Abdul Halim Khaddam and Zuheir Masharqa, the prime minister, the foreign minister and the ministers of the economy and foreign trade, higher education, irrigation and officials concerned representing the two sides.

Al-Assad received a message delivered by the PDRK official Kim Jong Nam from the PDRK President Kim Jong Il.

Discussions dealt with friendship and co-operation relations between the two countries and prospects of developing and strengthening them.

The two sides also reviewed regional and international conditions and the situation in the Arab region and the Middle East. They agreed to continue contacts and consultations between the two countries.
