Hussein to Al-Sharq: Iraq wants to open new page with the Arab states
Iraq-Regional, Politics, 7/17/2002
The Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has stressed that his country wants to open a new page in the history of its relations with the Arab states.
In a statement to the Qatari daily al-Sharq, issued on Tuesday, the Iraqi president explained that Iraq which carried out all UN resolutions, has repeatedly announced this very desire, in official work committees and the conferences of the Arab summits, especially the recent Beirut Arab summit.
Hussein said that the US and Israel are provoking things to deepen the spirit of hatred among the Arab brothers "whenever Iraq comes close to convincing its brothers of this desire."
