Al-Bashir: Sudan's government to include opposition

The Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir has stressed the seriousness of the Sudanese national salvation front in the efforts to achieve peace in the country and its readiness to expand the base of the ruling authority in case current negotiations in Nairobi will succeed between the government and the rebel movement under the auspices of IGAD states.

In a statement to the Sudanese daily al-Sahafi al-Dawli, the Sudanese president related the possibility of making a ministerial reshuffle to expand the base of the governing authority in the country to accommodate the results of the current negotiations in Nairobi.

Concerning Sudan's relations with the US, the Sudanese president said that the recent visit of the US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Walter H. Kansteiner, III to Khartoum constitutes an indicator on the progress attained in these relations.
