Israeli army shoots Palestinian worker, break into internet shop
Palestine-Israel, Military, 7/16/2002

One Palestinian worker died and other 13 wounded when the Israeli forces threw two "sound bombs" inside a sponge factory in Qalqilya.

Eye witnessed said the two bombs resulted in the eruption of a large fire in the factory, while the Israeli soldiers had thrown more bombs and opened machine-gun fire aimed at bellow the feet of the Palestinian workers.

While one Israeli force broke into the Palestinian "PalNet" Internet site in al-Beera and arrested 6 of its employees, the Israeli forces launched a vast detention and breaking in campaign and arrested scores of Palestinians in Hebron and the villages of Ola, Masha, Balaa in Toulkarem, Qousin and Sarda (Nablus), and simultaneously tightened the military siege against the cities of the West Bank and Gaza, with a state of alert in the territories of 1948 under pretexts of having warnings of likely "suicide operations" against the Israeli army which announced the formation of a special unit for its retired members working to chase the Palestinian resistance men.

In Gaza, some 1500 unemployed Palestinians demonstrated against the policy of siege which deprived them of "winning their bread." The demonstrators who gathered in front of UNRWA called on the UN to urgently contribute to solving the question of unemployment and hunger. They called on the Palestinian authority to make reforms, fight corruption and provide jobs for unemployed Palestinians.
