Lahoud to visit Algeria next week

Well-informed sources said that at the invitation of the Algerian President Abdul Aziz Butaflika, the Lebanese President Emil Lahoud will pay an official visit to Algeria for two days starting as from July 23.
The sources have not ruled out that the visit will be an opportunity for President Lahoud to invite his Algerian counterpart to attend the meetings of the Franchophonic summit due to be held in Beirut in October, on the ground that Algeria has been always rejected to be a member in this coalition. Worthy mentioning that the Franchophonic summit due in Beirut in 2001 was postponed because of the implications of the September 11 attacks in the US.
