Egypt asks Israel to permit importing Palestinian gas
Egypt-Israel, Economics, 7/16/2002

Egypt has asked Israel to permit it to provide Israel with gas from the gas fields of the Palestinian authority located off the coast of Gaza.

The Israeli Hebrew language radio said that the Egyptian request came for technical reason that have no links to the political situation.

The radio added that Egypt had earlier signed an agreement with Israel for providing Israel with 1.7 billion cubic meters of Egyptian gas.

The radio added that Egypt wants to provide Israel, at the beginning with gas from the Palestinian gas fields and at a later phase from the Egyptian gas fields after completing the erection of a pipeline linking the Egyptian gas fields with reservoirs in Israel.
