Cabinet reviews e-signature draft law
Egypt, Economics, 7/15/2002

Egypt's Prime Minister Atef Ebeid today chaired a Cabinet meeting to discuss the E-Signature Bill, which will make electronic and handwritten signatures equally valid.

The bill is important for companies looking for e-signature software to deliver secure transactions and reduce paperwork.

The e-signature bill is hailed by the Egyptian business community as the catalyst that will boost consumers' and retailers' confidence in transactions online.

Egypt's interest in the draft law emanates from eagerness for greater integration with the international economy, which requires the expansion of technological systems to face the challenges of globalization.

The new law is expected to give impetus to e-business in Egypt, since without legislation of this type, no progress will be made towards greater e-commerce.
