Moussa, Abul Ragheb discuss the occupied territories, Iraq
Jordan-Regional, Politics, 7/15/2002
Jordanian Prime Minister Ali Abul Ragheb on Sunday in Amman met with the secretary general of the Arab League Amr Moussa and they discussed developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and the joint Arab work as well as the situation in Iraq.
A Jordanian official source said that during the meeting Abul Ragheb called for the need of revitalizing the Arab peace initiative in this critical phase and returning back to the table of negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides.
Abul Ragheb also stressed Jordan's stand in rejecting any military act against Iraq and against any Arab state. He strongly denied news which talked about using the Jordanian lands and airspace to carry out attacks against Iraq and on the existence of American bases or forces on the Jordanian territories.
Moussa, for his part expressed complete confidence on Jordan's commitment like other states to the resolutions of the recent Beirut Arab summit which reject any military act against any Arab states.
Moussa arrived in Amman in a visit to Jordan during which he will take part in declaring Amman as a capital for Arab culture for 2002.
