Mubarak al-Fadel al-Mahdi, chairman of the political sector in the Sudanese Umma party, which is led by al-Sadeq al-Mahdi decided to take part with the current Sudanese government in running the country.
During the final session of the special conference which it held in Khartoum on Friday evening in the presence of the secretary general of the ruling national congress Ibrahim Ahmad Omar and high ranking official in the government, the group decided to solve all department appointed by the Cairo meeting of the Umma party held in August 2001 and to form a new organizational structure for the party.
In the final session, Mubarak al-Fadel explained that the participants in the meeting seek to build the Umma party on grounds of "renewal, reforms and democratic practice" and to build bridges of cooperation with all, the government and the opposition.
For his part al-Sadeq al-Mahdi criticized the "special conference" which was held by the group with the participation of 1300 members of the Ummah party and described it as "the imposed conference." He considered this conference as null and void because the leadership of the party was not invited to it nor learnt about it.
