Sudan, Politics, 7/15/2002
The humanitarian aid commission in Sudan has announced that the air relief operations which start today will cover more 40 positions in the southern part of the country and this will be in implementation of an agreement between the government and the UN secretary general.
The humanitarian aid commissioner Sulaf Eddine Saleh explained in a statement to the Sudanese daily al-Ayam that the air relief operations will continue until the end of the current month at the new positions.
However, during his recent visit to Khartoum the UN secretary general promised to make contacts for having representatives for the Sudanese government at Kenya's Lukshiko base in order to monitor humanitarian relief operations before they are launched.
