World Bank chief hails Morocco's achievements in all realms

President of the World Bank, James Wolfensohn, who paid a visit to Morocco July 10-11, hailed Morocco's achievements in all realms, describing Morocco as "a very important country in the region."
Speaking at a press briefing in Rabat Thursday, Wolfensohn called Moroccan economic operators to work to encourage economic growth and consequently increase productivity.
Moroccans must make more efforts to support the ongoing economic growth. "We are here to help you and work with you," WB head said.
He also reiterated his institution's readiness to contribute to realizing Morocco's objectives and bolstering cooperation with the kingdom.
James Wolfensohn lauded the social breakthroughs Morocco made since 1999, especially as regards adults and women alphabetization, rural electrification, drinking water supply.
The World Bank chief also hailed the efforts of the civil society, which comprises some 30,000 associations
Touching on the New Economic Partnership for Africa's development (NEPAD), Wolfensohn said Africa is now endowed, for the first time, with an economic plan and that his institution will spare no effort to help in the endeavor.
Wolfensohn was received Thursday by king Mohammed VI. His talks with the sovereign focused on Morocco's growth scheme, and means to expand growth and speed its pace.
The sovereign underscored the coherence and ambition of the overall project set forth by Morocco in the political, economic and social fields and Morocco's resolve to safeguard its macro-economic gains while Wolfensohn underscored Morocco's capacity to build up economic progress on the political results scored.
Wolfensohn also voiced satisfaction at the social priorities set by Morocco on its agenda and expressed the bank's readiness to contribute to the achievement of the goals set by Morocco and consolidate its cooperation with the Kingdom.
