Trial of Moroccan athlete accused of killing French policeman postponed

The court of appeal of Rabat decided to postpone to next October 9 the trial of Moroccan athlete, Hicham Bouaouich, accused of killing, with two accomplices, a French policemen in December 2000 in Southern France.
The athlete, 28, who was staying illegally in France, is accused of killing the policeman as he and his accomplices were trying to rob an insurance company.
He succeeded in fleeing France but was arrested in Morocco in July 2001 by the border police.
Bouaouich, finalist at the 3,000 steeple chase of the 1996 Olympic Games of Atlanta, is denying the charges.
