Humanitarian crisis expected in the West Bank
Palestine-Israel, Military, 7/12/2002

The US has criticized Israel's decision to close the Palestinian Jerusalem university in the city of Jerusalem, while the Israeli extremist religious al- Mifdal party renewed its calls to expel the Palestinians and to work for intensifying the settlement process and to bring in more world Jews to Israel.

Meantime, the Israeli forces continued their attacks against the Palestinians and launched a vast campaign of arrest in Nablus.

The Israeli forces arrested one officer of "Force Number 17" and the deputy for al-Awqaf director in Hebron while two Palestinian journalists were wounded by the Israeli soldiers in Jenin during the process of lifting curfew from the city.

Palestinian sources said the two journalists, an editor in the Palestinian news agency WAFA and one photographer were admitted to the hospital and Palestinian medical sources said that one of them is severely wounded.

However, five Israeli tanks and 10 Jeep cars incurred in Jenin on Thursday, according to Palestinian security sources.

Member of the Israeli Knesset for the extremist al-Mifdal party Shaul Yahalom called for intensifying the settlement process in the West Bank and Gaza considering that any slowness in building the settlements is but a concession and a set back for the "Zionist project" which aims at bringing in most Jews of the world and settle them in the Israeli settlements.

On the other hand, the Palestinian Intifada youths on Thursday fired an anti- armored vehicles bomb against a position for the Israeli army near Nevit Dekalim settlement near Gaza, according to the Israeli radio. The radio said that no human casualties were reported.
