Amon's beekeepers supervisor tomb unearthed
Egypt, History, 7/10/2002

"A Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) mission unearthed a Modern Kingdom (15 century B.C.) tomb that belongs to Epi, the beekeepers supervisor in god Amon's house," said SCA Secretary General Zahi Hawas.

"This important find was made during the removal of sands south of the funerary temple of Queen Khouet, mother of King Bibi II, the third King of the 6th Dynasty," said Hawas.

He added that the tomb is built of mud bricks, noting the mission also unearthed the remains of the northern wall of a gallery that contains dilapidated scenery including a table of offerings in the middle.

Another part from the western wall of this gallery depicting Epi and his wife Sikhnet sitting on the left and right with a table of offerings in the middle was also found.

The piece of wall shows Skikhnet laying her left hand on her husband's shoulder while smelling the lotus flower. Her husband was depicted holding a scepter to indicate his senior post.
