Second hand cars cleared in Morocco in 2001 drop by 43.2%

The number of second hand cars cleared through Moroccan customs in 2001 dropped by 43.2% in comparison with the previous year, the administration of customs and direct taxes (ADII) said.
Some 14,530 second hand cars were cleared during 2001, compared with 25,584 in 2000.
In parallel, the number of new cars cleared through Moroccan crossing points went up from 17,326 in 2000 to 21,228 in 2001, which is a 22.5% rise, ADII said.
Most second hand cars were cleared at Casablanca (16.4%), Nador (12.1%), Tangier (9.9%) and Oujda (9.4%), ADII said, adding that 85.1% were more than 5 years old while cars having less than 1 year did not exceed 5.1%.
