Moroccan fm cites moves by Morocco and Spain to end political lethargy

Moroccan minister of foreign affairs and cooperation, Mohamed Benaissa, said on Monday Morocco and Spain are working to end the present political lethargy in their relations.
The head of the Moroccan diplomacy who was briefing reporters following a meeting of the House of Representatives' foreign affairs and national defense committee said Moroccan-Spanish efforts seek to assess pending issues and address them on the basis of mutual respect and not of threats and blackmailing.
"We are convinced that all problems can be solved provided that good intentions and a strong resolve exist," he said before stressing that Morocco does have good intentions and firm resolve to find a solution to pending problems.
Spain is also starting to be aware of Morocco's grievances as indicated by recent remarks of some Spanish officials, he went on.
Last October, Morocco recalled its ambassador to Madrid for consultation, citing a series of Spanish attitudes and stands concerning Morocco.
