Heads of Arab drug fighting organisms hold 16th conference in Tunis

The 16th conference of Arab drug fighting organisms will start proceeding in Tunis on Wednesday.

The conference will examine issues related to drugs production, use, and trafficking, and their negative repercussions on the Arab states, especially on minors, the Arab council of interior ministers said in a release.

Participants will also debate a draft law on money laundering, measures to prevent the use of mail services in drug trafficking and a comparative study on drugs seized in the Arab states between 1999 and 2001.

They will also assess the results of the Arab and international encounters on drug fighting between 2001 and 2002, and the publications of The Arab Anti-Narcotics Bureau during the same period.

Commissions mustering Arab states according to their geographic location will hold meetings on the sidelines of the conference, the release goes on.

The conference will elaborate recommendations to be submitted to the secretariat general of the Arab council of interior ministers. Their adoption will be decided at the following session of the council.

Representatives from several Arab states, the Arab League, Nayef Arab Academy for Security Sciences and the Interpol will be taking part in the conference.
