Paris Saint-Denis meet: Morocco's el Guerrouj signs year's best performance on 1,500 m

World champion, Hicham El Guerrouj, on Friday won the 1,500 m race in the Gaz de France track meet, the second in the Golden League series.
El Guerrouj, a three-times world champion and holder of the distance record, run the distance in 3:29.96, signing the year's best performance. He was followed by Kenya's Bernard Lagat, 3:31.59. and Mehdi Baala, France, 3:33.55.
In the season opening, El Guerrouj also won in the mile distance on June 29 in Oslo, first in the Golden League series.
Another Moroccan, Abderrahim Goumri, came in second in the 5,000 meter-race of the Paris event, after Kenya's Benjamin Limo. He was followed by countryman Mohammed Amyn.
