Syrian foreign ministry statement before the fact finding commission
Syria-Israel, Politics, 7/5/2002

The Syrian foreign ministry has stressed that Syria was and is still committed to the effort to establish a just and comprehensive peace according to the principles on the ground of which the Madrid peace conference was launched, built on implementing UN Security Council resolutions 242, 338 and 425 and the land for peace formula provided for Israel's complete withdrawal from all the occupied Syrian Golan until June 4, 1067 border lines and from south Lebanon and other occupied Arab lands including Jerusalem.

In a statement read by Khalil Abu Hadid, the director of the international organizations at the foreign ministry on Thursday before the special committee in charge of investigating the Israeli practices which violate the Palestinian rights and the rights of other Arabs in the occupied territories, the ministry said the visit of this committee to the region ensures once again the international concern over the continued Israeli occupation of the Arab territories and the inhuman practices conducted by the Israeli authorities in the occupied lands.

In its statement the ministry called on the committee to divert the attention of the UN to Israel's continued rejection to permitting the committee visiting the occupied Arab territories and to call on the international community to force Israel to honor the UN General Assembly to this effect so as the committee will be acquainted with the flagrant violations committed by the Israeli forces.
