Development fund to set up database for small-scale enterprises
Egypt, Economics, 7/4/2002
The Social Development Fund (SDF) and the UN Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) have agreed to set up a database on small-scale projects in order to enhance coordination between small- and- medium-scale enterprises.
The role of UNIDO is to help the transfer of expertise to Egypt from abroad, SDF Secretary-General Hany Seif el-Nasr said, adding that a preliminary feasibility study for small-scale projects has been completed.
The study covers certain governmental and non-governmental orgnisations, IT companies, the European Union, and Arab Fund which support these projects, Seif el-Nasr said.
The absence of accurate information on markets and legal restrictions are the main problems facing small and medium-scale projects, he said.
