Al-Qabas: Contacts for convening a mini Arab summit on Palestinian issue

The Kuwaiti daily al-Qabas issued on Wednesday quoted a high ranking Arab diplomat in Damascus as saying that contacts to convene a mini Arab summit including states with are in direct contact with the Palestinian file have achieved big strides.
The daily added however, that certain states which are supposed to take part in the summit prefer to wait until an international position will be crystallized and become more comprehensive concerning the recent speech made by the US President George Bush concerning the ME.
The diplomat added he expects this summit to be held in Damascus if appropriate conditions will be provided for it, stressing that so far contacts made stressed that there are Arab sates that see in the stand of the American President as a grave step towards containing the Palestinian issue and imposing a settlement based on the Israeli conception of this settlement.
